What I’ve observed from faster drivers is that smooth driving is fast driving. Aggressive drivers end up actually being a bit slower compared to the faster drivers who have better linearity. They don’t yank the wheel as they’re at the turn but instead they start turning slowly as they approach the turns.

Did autocross for years many years even back when it was called slalom racing. Overdriving is not good in autocross but that being said, trying to use ‘the full lane’ is nonsense the lanes are generally narrow to start with. HPDE tracks are usually real race tracks that allow you to take advantage of the full track
